This State of the Basin email bulletin is the first in a series that will provide you with the latest information on CBT’s State of the Basin Initiative, links to useful data, and events and learning opportunities. Through this initiative CBT is providing tangible tools, such as reports and web-based resources to support communities and organizations in understanding how to apply social, environmental, economic and other community indicators and trends in the Columbia Basin in planning and decision-making. Get copies of the 2008 State of the Basin Report , ask for assistance or link to a roster of technical advisors on the State of the Basin website .

The latest BC Stats socio-economic profiles are available by community.

Statistics Canada local and area profiles (based on 2006 census data). A range of projections are available to use in building community profiles:


The Regional Innovation Chair ,George Penfold, at Selkirk College has developed data related to demographics, housing and labour force in the West Kootenay Boundary Region.
